The battle of the century is on, my friend- the Windows 7 vs Windows 8 battle! What keeps amazing me is the hype that surrounds the Windows 8 operating system. Let’s face it if it wasn’t for this hype the Windows 7 vs Windows 8 battle would have had no meaning as such.

The president of the Windows and Windows Live, Steven Sinofsky feels that the Windows 7 vs Windows 8 battle is more about the battle of emerging as the better platform. The president points out that the two operating systems have been built on entirely different platforms.

A lot of us actually look at the Windows 7 vs Windows 8 battle as a battle of performance.

Now the million dollar question is who will ultimately win the Windows 7 vs Windows 8 battle? In order to find an answer to the Windows 7 vs Windows 8 comparision, let’s compare the performance of both the operating systems.

Windows 7 vs Windows 8 based on the performances

The Windows 8 developer’s team points out that in terms of performance, the Windows 8 operating system will reach a whole new level. The Windows 8 developer’s team further explains that only a small part of the memory will be written onto the disk. This mean that Windows 8 can undergo a process called session 0 hibernation as opposed to the full hibernation that is utilized in the Windows 7 operating system.

With the sessions 0 hibernation, the boot time is said to be real fast. The Windows 8 developer’s team says that the speed could be increased by at least 30% (and they say that it could go up to 70%).

On the basis of performance of the two operating systems, the Windows 8 operating system has already won the Windows 7 vs Windows 8 battle. But then again my friend, all of this is simply based on speculations.
