Another feather to the hat of Microsoft- they have released their Windows 8 Release Preview; another development prototype of the upcoming operating system. With the public announcement of the Windows 8 Release Preview build, the company also confirmed its upgrade prices. These prices for the basic structural owners- for Windows 7 owners. Windows 7 PC buyers in USA, starting June 1st have a special offer to Windows 8 upgrade, just at $15, when the operating system is officially released. Microsoft ensures that Windows 8 will be technically compatibility with Windows 7 hardware. This is so to further strengthen this claim and it wants the Windows 7 users to believe that they actually have the basic model of Windows 8. Microsoft also wants to ensure that the PC buyers continue to buy PCs, will not wait for the release of the new operating system. this will keep going their sales till the final launch of Windows 8 in around October.
Upgrade for Indian users
In 2009, Microsoft India had announced free upgrades to Windows 7 for users who were using Vista Home Premium, Business, or Ultimate PCs. In the same way , the company may be offering the Windows 8 upgrade for Windows 7 PC buyers. However, this time it will not be free, it has a price. The press release by the company regarding this, Microsoft India has clarifies that, Rs 699/- should be paid for the Windows 8 Pro upgrades. The other terms and conditions for the upgrade offer are similar with the ones in US:

- Offer valid till January 31st, 2013
- Windows 7 versions supported: Home Basic, Home Premium, Professional & Ultimate
For Indian users
With this Upgrade Offer, the Indian Windows users can have a downloadable upgrade to Windows 8 Pro. The estimated retail price being the same- just Rs. 699/-.
The upgrade offer to Windows 8 has been redeemed. The program will expire by the end of February 2013. Only users who have register for the Windows Upgrade Offer will be eligible to download Windows 8, starting from the day the operating system is made available for public. The upgrade can be done- downloaded and installed on any compatible Windows PC and will have a 90 days of support from Microsoft.
